John E. Towson was born about May 1850. He was most likely the son of James Henry Towson and Sophia A. Webster or Janney. He married Emma J. Wills on November 7, 1880 at Emory parsonage in Baltimore, Maryland. Emma was the daughter of Captain Richard C.
